This time of the year can truly be magical, especially for young kids... and, I know my kids always find magic with each new experience had at the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium. Now both those worlds are colliding as Scuba Santa is back for another year at the River Museum.

According to a press release from the museum, from December 2nd trough the 3rd, swing by and snag a picture with Scuba Santa in the Gulf of Mexico Aquarium located in the new Rivers to the Sea exhibit (seen below).

Join Santa as he takes a break from his workshop and will be on-site in the aquarium from noon to 1pm both days. The experience is included with your general admission to the River Museum, thanks to the support of Finnin Kia.

That's not all though as the River Museum has loads of other holiday events to enjoy. The Mathias Ham Historic Site is embracing the holiday season with an array of engaging events that offer a glimpse into Dubuque’s rich history and festive traditions. The calendar is full of opportunities for visitors to immerse themselves in the charm of yesteryears and savor the spirit of the holidays.

From the enchanting Candlelight Tours on the first three weekends of December, to the immersive Holiday Tours with costumed interpreters, there's a captivating blend of history and hands-on experiences for all to enjoy.

For those seeking a cozy respite, the Afternoon Tea on December 10th invites guests of all ages to indulge in a delightful assortment of teas, delectable finger sandwiches, and holiday treats—a perfect break from the busy holiday preparations.

A highlight among these events is the Museum X gathering on December 14, delving into Dubuque's historical winter celebrations. Attendees will explore how past generations found joy during frigid winters, learn what makes a splendid New Year’s Eve soirée, and even reminisce about favorite Christmas gifts from the 1840s to now. This event is free for members or $10 for non-members.

The National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium promises a memorable and immersive holiday experience for all who attend.
