Once completed, Southwest Health’s current Eye Center on Main Street will move to the new clinic location. Various other Southwest Health specialty services will join the Eye Center and Darlington Family Dental. Upon graduation, Dr. Tyler Osterday and Dr. Ben Muhlstein will join the team of dentists and assist in staffing the newest clinic.

When Southwest Health began looking for the Darlington building site to replace its Eye Center options were limited. This led to exploring land development. Southwest Health has worked closely with the Wiegel Family, the Darlington City Council, and other entities to help make this development a reality. As part of this project, there will be roughly 9 acres of developed land. The additional 3 acres will be compromised of roads, retention ponds, and other infrastructure. Those nine buildable acres will be available for other businesses to purchase for commercial development.

“We have been exploring options for some time to replace our aging building in downtown Darlington. Working with the Wiegel Family and the City of Darlington, we have come up with a plan that will not only provide land for Southwest Health and Cuba City Clinic to build a new clinic but also provide additional land to the community for future development. We did a similar partnership with the City of Platteville, and we now have 12 acres of shovel-ready land adjacent to the hospital campus in Platteville. We are very excited to turn the page and move into the construction phase of this development. We look forward to being a larger part of the Darlington community.”

-Southwest Health CEO, Dan Rohrbach

Plans are to break ground for the clinic in the spring of 2023 and be open in the late fall of 2023. The rest of the land development will also be completed in the fall of 2023.
