Sundown Mountain; Founders Party, Meets Family Legacy
Everyone loves a party, and I've got the invitation for you. Sundown Mountain Resort will be hopping this Sunday (1/29) from Noon to 8pm for the Founders Party in the South Lodge.
This event is just another way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Sundown Mountain. It was also a nice chance to sit down and talk about the history of the establishment with owner and operator Mark Gordon.
It's funny to think that Mark was just 8 years old when his family and a group of friends decided it was time to set up a lodge and give skiing a go.
Nostalgia is part and parcel for anyone that comes out to experience the fun around Sundown. In fact, I was lucky to create a few new memories myself with my family on our first-time skiing together. To see the 7-year-olds battle through the unknown and come out on the other end smiling from the new experience is everything a father enjoys.
It seems to be very much the same for Mark, the way he lights up as he remembers the original jam-packed south lodge. Family and friends wall to wall, and the joy of warming up with food drinks, and music.
And now it's your chance to experience that fun for a few hours; The Founders’ Party in the South Lodge brings you 70s-inspired drink specials, food from Grillbilly’s BBQ, LIVE music from Joie Wails from 1 to 5 PM, a 70s costume contest, giveaways, and loads more!
Giveaway Prizes Include:
- Snowboard from 7G Distributing
- Party Zone Package, courtesy of 7G Distributing that includes 20 tickets to the March 4th Dubuque Fighting Saints Game against the Des Moines Buccaneers, 4 pizzas, 24-pack of water or soda.
- Samuel Adams Skis from IBEV
- Gift cards to Sundown Mountain
- 50th Anniversary shirts from Pepsi: Lime Rock Springs Co.
- Loads of other prizes
So brush out that mullet, swig some PBR's, and have a blast as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Sundown Mountain Resort this Sunday in the South Lodge at the Founders Party!
