2520 Pound Pumpkin Disqualified, No $22,000 Prize

A farmer in eastern Wisconsin grew a pumpkin which would have won the top prize in this year's largest pumpkin contest and the $22,000 prize that goes with it if not for  a tiny flaw.  A small crack, described as "fingernail-sized" was noticed by judges and the gourd was excluded from the competition.

Grower Mike Schmidt said; "It happens.  There's no crying in pumpkin growing."   Schmidt said he's feeling confident, and will be competing again next year.

No word on whether he considered a pumpkin patch.
