Are You Ready to Get Your Halloween Haunt on?

Halloween is still over a week away, but that hasn't stopped the Tri-States from getting its "GOUHL" on this week.  If you're looking for some Halloween fun, here are a few choices.

Thursday, October 20 is Trunk or Treat at the Dubuque County Fairgrounds.  In a nutshell, this is a safe trick-or-treat event for the kids.  Area businesses will decorate the trunks of their vehicles and hand out treats to any youngster in costume.   The event runs from 5:30 till 7 pm.  It's just one dollar per child (the adults can tag along for free). This is a great way for you to "test" your child's costume before you send them out on the streets trick or treating next weekend.  You can make sure your child can see properly, can walk without tripping, and to make sure they actually "like" their costume.

The very next night, Friday, October 21st, the city of Asbury will host its annual Halloween Parade.  The parade will start at the Lord of Life Church at 7pm and end in Asbury Park around 7:30.  That's where parade participants will be handing out treats to all the little ghosts and goblins from 7:30 to 8 pm.  Learn more HERE

Wrap up your weekend Saturday, October 22nd with the return of the Dubuque Halloween parade. After missing the last two years due to the pandemic, the Halloween parade is back this year thanks to the Julien Dubuque International Film Festival and Townsquare Media.

Saturday's parade (that's right, after being on Monday nights for many years, the parade has been moved to Saturday night) starts at 7 pm and will follow it's usual route, starting at Jackson Park and ending up in Washington Park.  For more details on this parade visit www.julienfilmfest.com.  See a map of the parade HERE

Don't want to wait till Saturday night to have fun?  There's a new event to go with Dubuque's Halloween Parade.  It's called "The Tappening" and it's being held at Five Flags Saturday afternoon.

The Tappening is part of the Julien Dubuque International Film Festival's Boos and Brews Weekend.

Activities will include

- Beer tasting featuring dozens of local and regional breweries
- Cornhole tournament (requires additional entry fee)
- Pickleball games
- Live music from Joie Wails
- Scary movie screenings
