Dubuque American Legion Post #6 will host the 2022 Veterans Day Ceremony for Dubuque  This year's event will be held at the Mystique Ice Arena on Chaplain Schmitt Island.  All military veterans and patriotic citizens are invited to attend.  The program will start at 10:30 am, Friday, November 11th, 2022, lasting approximately 30 minutes. All Tri-State veterans’ organizations and military units are encouraged to participate.

The featured keynote speaker is Christina Schauer.  Christina served in the U.S. Army Reserve with the 389th Engineer Battalion, stationed at Dubuque, Iowa, from 1999 to 2007.  During this time, she spent a year in Bagdad, Iraq, as a combat medic in Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Following her return, she completed nursing school at the University of Illinois/Chicago and became a Trauma/Surgical ICU Registered Nurse at Loyola University Medical Center.  While working as a nurse, she received her Master’s Degree from Loyola University Chicago to become a board-certified clinical nurse specialist.

Today, Christina is the Director of Clinical and Professional Development and Magnet Program Director at Mercy One Dubuque Medical Center.  She also leads the military and veteran health care program for Mercy One Dubuque, Clinton, and Dyersville.

Music will be included in the program. Heather Cunard will sing the national anthem. The East Dubuque Drum and Bugle Corp and Dubuque Fire Pipe and Drums will participate in the ceremony.

Everyone is invited to attend the annual Chili Luncheon at the American Legion Club House, 1306 Delhi Street, Dubuque, Iowa.  Chili will be available for $1.00 per bowl. The chili lunch event will begin at 11:30 a.m. For more information contact Tom Walsh at 563-663-5444.
