Dubuque Arboretum Visitor Center Remodeled
If you haven't been to the Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens in awhile, you owe it to yourself to check it out
The Heineman Visitor Center is the hub of the Dubuque Arboretum & Botanical Gardens (DABG). The Center serves as a place to welcome visitors, coordinate events, host workshops and as a home for the DABG offices. Tour buses and care facility vans pull up to our front doors. Complimentary garden tours start here.
The original Visitor Center was erected by volunteers. This year the Center has been remodeled with insulation, new siding, and a beautiful new entry. The new entry and the cupola on top with custom weathervane gives the look and feel of historically accurate barn- like features. This project provides better access to the building, including widening the entrance along with installing ADA handicap accessible automatic doors. All of this was made possible through the Woodward Foundation, the Dubuque Racing Association and an estate gift.
The gardens in the spring are a must to see! The peonies start to bloom, the color of the rhododendrons and azaleas are dazzling, and the perennials are constantly changing. We have a gorgeous formal English Garden. Also, the extensive display of hosta and rose gardens are one of Dubuque’s favorite places to visit.
Explore the Japanese Garden where you can feed the koi fish. They also have an all edible display garden called “The Garden of Eat’n.” Come and enjoy our wonderful and exquisite gardens and take in the beauty of the Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.
Don't miss the free Sunday concert series every Sunday in June, July & August at 6:30 PM.
