Dubuque City Transit, the Jule, Will Offer Free Rides to Polls Election Day
According to a press release from the city of Dubuque, our local transit system, the Jule, will be offering free bus rides for voters on Election Day, Tuesday, November 7th. The Jule’s fixed-route service and on-demand service will provide free “Ride to Vote” rides during hours of operation from 6:15am until 6:45pm.
This is a great step forward in in promoting civic engagement, and ensuring all have an opportunity to vote. This "Ride to Vote" initiative is available on both the fixed-route and on-demand services, making it convenient for residents to access their polling places without the worry of transportation costs. To utilize this service, voters need only inform Jule operators that they are riding to vote.
For fixed-route services, buses will maintain their regular routes but will extend their reach to drop passengers at bus stops within a reasonable walking distance of polling locations throughout Dubuque. The transportation services staff is also on hand to provide guidance and information for voters, ensuring a smooth journey from fixed-route stops to polling places.
