Dubuque Ice Arena Becomes ImOn Arena In $500K Deal

According to a press release from the DRA, the Schmitt Island Development Corporation (SID) has announced a significant step in the redevelopment of Chaplain Schmitt Island. After gaining the Dubuque City Council's approval, SID has sealed a 5-year, $500,000 naming rights deal for the Dubuque Ice Arena with ImOn Communications, a Cedar Rapids-based company that has been providing high-speed fiber Internet, TV, and phone services to Eastern Iowa since 2007. This collaboration results in the city-owned ice arena being rebranded as ImOn Arena, marking a noteworthy juncture in the island's transformation.

SID's role as a non-profit organization tasked with overseeing the island's revival makes this partnership particularly pivotal. Working in conjunction with the city and DRA, which manages day-to-day operations at the arena, SID is dedicated to ensuring the island becomes a thriving year-round event destination. The sponsorship agreement not only infuses financial support into the ongoing redevelopment but also bolsters marketing efforts to draw people to Dubuque for various events.

The public can anticipate a visible transformation as new signage and branding modifications are set to debut at the arena in September. An exciting addition to the agenda is a public ribbon-cutting event planned for the coming months, allowing the community and media to witness the unveiling of the revamped ImOn Arena branding.
