Dubuque Looking for Public Input on Recreation ‘Master Plan’
According to a news release from the City of Dubuque, residents have a unique opportunity to shape the future of parks and recreation in their community. The city has launched the "Y(O)ur Story" campaign, a six-month initiative designed to gather public input for a new Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Master Plan. The goal? To craft a vision that will guide Dubuque’s parks, trails, and recreational programs for the next decade and beyond.
To make sure every voice is heard, the city is hosting two community workshops next week:
- Tonight, April 1, from 5 – 8 PM at the Multicultural Family Center (1157 Central Ave.)
- Thursday, April 3, from 5 – 8 PM at the Veterans Memorial Park Building (2790 Miracle League Dr.)

These workshops will follow an open-house format, meaning residents can stop by at any time to share their thoughts. Whether you have ideas about new park amenities, sports programs, or accessibility improvements, this is your chance to contribute to our local area.
Beyond the workshops, there are plenty of other ways to get involved. The city has set up an interactive website, YOurStoryDubuque.com, where residents can take a survey, use a mapping tool to highlight areas of need, and even play with a budgeting tool to prioritize future projects.
Public input is crucial to ensuring Dubuque’s parks and recreation system reflects the needs of the community. Whether you’re a frequent park-goer, an outdoor enthusiast, or just someone with a big idea, now is the time to speak up and help write Dubuque’s next chapter. Get involved with your city and help create the change you want to see!
