Popular Iowa Grocery Store Bringing Back Its Classic Restaurant
I certainly didn't have this on my 2025 bingo card but it's kind of exciting.
The #1 grocery store in the U.S. which is based in Iowa is bringing back a classic restaurant to all of its Midwest stores but you'll be able to get some new items they plan on focusing on. I know not all of the stores in Iowa and throughout the Midwest have rid of these restaurants, but all of them will be getting that updated menu while bringing back some fan favorites.

Hy-Vee has announced that they are bringing back their Market Grille restaurants and that new menu will focus on serving you for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Hy-Vee Market Grille Restaurants Are Coming Back
Hy-Vee announced on Monday that its OG restaurant, Market Grille, will be coming back to all its in-store restaurant locations across the Iowa and the Midwest.
Each Hy-Vee Market Grille locations will have a brand-new menu that primarily focuses on breakfast and burgers, according to the release. Beginning Feb. 4, all Hy-Vee restaurants will offer a new breakfast menu. A new lunch and dinner menu will roll out throughout the month of February.
The new menus will bring back fan favorites, like Hy-Vee Market Grille burgers, BLT and club sandwiches, and pork tenderloin sandwiches, while still offering popular items like wings and wontons.
Hash browns are also returning to the new breakfast menu. Other traditional breakfast items will include:
- Omelets
- Biscuits & gravy
- Pancakes
- French toast
- Breakfast burrito.
Hy-Vee designed the new menus to offer a wider variety of choices for families, individuals and breakfast groups at an affordable price.
Are Wahlburgers Closing At Hy-Vee Stores?
To be honest, I have no idea. That wasn't mentioned in the press release but if Midwest Hy-Vee stores with a restaurant are changing over to Market Grille stores, I got a strong feeling that you'll be seeing the number Wahlburgers location drop like a rock.
I was looking where Wahlburgers locations are in the U.S. I'll let you take a look at their location map here but you'll see a trend in the Midwest region... They are primarily in Hy-Vee stores.
Plus, people notice more than things going on than others might think. One week again, a reddit user posted, "Wahlburgers sign removed at 53rd Hy-Vee today." Once commenter said, "Walhburgers aren’t going to be in HyVee’s anymore. I work at this store but I haven’t heard what’s going in there yet." That isn't confirmed but again, wouldn't be surprised.
When Market Grille Will Be Open
Weekday hours for all Market Grille locations will be 6 – 11 a.m. for breakfast and 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. for lunch and dinner. Breakfast will be available 6 a.m. – 2 p.m. on the weekends with a special brunch buffet offered at select locations.
All Market Grille locations will offer both dine-in and carry-out service, as well as third-party delivery. Most locations will have counter service where customers order at the counter and staff will bring their freshly made order to their table.
Hy-Vee says that the transition will happen across Hy-Vee’s region in phases starting this week. After the transition, Hy-Vee will have a total of 221 Market Grille and Market Grille Express locations across the Midwest.
