Juvenile DUI Crash in Illinois Leads to Arrest; Multiple Injuries

Wednesday, July 19th, just after 6pm deputies with the Jo Daviess County Sheriffs Department were dispatched to the area of West Blanding Road and South Whitton Road in Savanna, Illinois for a motor vehicle accident with injuries involving several Juveniles.

Deputies arriving on the scene learned that a red Cheverolet Malibu was headed east on bound on West Blanding Road. The driver had said that when coming around the corner they noticed a vehicle headed west bound in their lane of travel.

The driver of the Red Malibu attempted to swerve out of the way to avoid the on-coming vehicle. The Malibu than lost control and drove off the north side of the roadway and rolled over multiple times before coming to a rest on all four tires. Two occupants of the vehicle were transported from the scene of the accident by AirCare 3 to Rockford Hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

Deputies later learned that there were two additional occupants of that vehicle that had fled the scene. These individuals were located and one was transported to Midwest Medical for minor injuries. The driver was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and was issued two citations for failure to reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident and Operating in Violation of Restriction or Restricted Driving Permit. The incident remains under investigation.
