What is Listeria?

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria that can cause serious illness, especially in pregnant women, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include:

  • Fever, muscle aches, nausea, diarrhea
  • Severe cases: confusion, stiff neck, seizures, or pregnancy complications

Symptoms can appear anywhere from the same day to 10 weeks after eating contaminated food.

If you bought these meals from Walmart or Kroger before June 17th, check your fridge or freezer. If your product matches the description, do not eat it. Throw it away or return it to the store. Anyone with symptoms should contact a healthcare provider and leave a report on the FDA website here. The FDA is continuing to investigate this outbreak as well as the illnesses and deaths linked to it.
