According to local reports from individuals involved in the process, Grand River Medical Group in Dubuque is facing a wave of significant layoffs, with reports from Iowa Work Force indicating that 52 workers were let go across local clinics. Attempts to gather information from the medical group's website were met with unanswered calls and being sent straight to voicemail, leaving the nature and extent of the layoffs shrouded in uncertainty.

This development follows a recent collaboration between Grand River Medical Group and UnityPoint Health. In the summer of 2023, UnityPoint Health announced the transition of three primary care clinics to Grand River Medical Group, emphasizing a joint effort to enhance healthcare services in the Tri-State Area. The affected clinics included family medicine and women's health clinics on Pennsylvania Avenue in Dubuque, as well as family medicine and walk-in care clinics in Cascade and Peosta.
