You've heard Metallica's "Enter Sandman" many a time, but we're guessing you've never heard it quite like this. The band dropped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and took part in Fallon's recurring series of music acts playing their songs utilizing classroom kids instruments.

Gone are the familiar guitars of James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett, the killer bass of Robert Trujillo and the full complement of drums and cymbals for Lars Ulrich. In their place was a toy clarinet for Hetfield, a Fisher Price drum and toy cymbal for Ulrich, a melodica for Hammett and a baby electric axe for Trujillo.

But they were not alone in this performance, as Fallon and the house band The Roots ably backed them up utilizing toy drums, kazoos, a Casio keyboard, a xylophone, a hand clapper, a ukulele, apple and banana shakers, bongos and a tambourine. Watch it all play out in the video above.

Metallica, with their regular instruments intact, will return to the stage Friday (Nov. 18) in London at the House of Vans for a show that will be webcast for a worldwide audience. Their Hardwired ... To Self-Destruct album comes out tomorrow (Nov. 18). See all of their other scheduled dates here.
