University of Dubuque Heritage Center: Montopolis Live April 13th

Entertainment comes in many forms and artistry know many mediums. Often times when those mediums are combined, they can create a whole new experience or world. You chance to experience just that is coming to the University of Dubuque Heritage Center. Wednesday April 13^th starting at 7:30pm you can enjoy the cinematography and musical experience of Montopolis. They will be performing their currently touring show called “The Living Coast”.

This show is more than just music and pictures; it’s an experience. The orchestral chamber rock group, Montopolis, will provide a musical backdrop to a gorgeous nature film with dynamic storytelling, with a focus on the Texas gulf coast. The show states that, “Surfers and sailors, shrimpers and oilmen, poets and scientists; all these walks of life will share their stories about the complicated region of serene beauty, vast industry, and incredible contradictions.”

Montopolis is an indie chamber music group hailing from Austin, Texas. This group performs the works of composer Justin Sherburn, in an engaging, multi-media event that combines live music, video, and interactive storytelling. Their music intends to fold country and folk stylings into modern classical arrangements. The goal is to inspire people from all walks of life to consider how best to steward our lands and oceans for future generations.

Their most recent albums, Music for Enchanted Rock and The Legend of Big Bend, are themed around different Texas ecological areas. Montopolis is highly skilled group and includes musicians from the Austin Symphony, Okkervil River, Tosca String Quartet, and the Polyphonic Spree, and are generously funded by Mid-America Arts Alliance, The National Endowment for the Arts, and the state arts agencies of Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas.
