This week's minor and major league baseball games at Dyersville's Field of Dreams will be far from the last games played at the historic field.   According to the Dubuque Telegraph Herald, some major funding for the field has just come in.

According to the TH, The City of Dyersville has received a $12.5 million state grant for the creation of a permanent baseball stadium at the Field of Dreams.  When Dyersville officials applied for the funding earlier this year they said they intended to put it toward the creation of a permanent multi-use stadium capable of hosting professional baseball games, collegiate baseball tournaments, and other year-round events.

The 12.5 million is approximately 1/4 of the total project investment of $50 million.  Earlier this year, both the Dyersville and Dubuque city councils pledged $1 million toward the project, while the Dubuque County Board of Supervisors pledged $5 million.

This is Iowa Ballpark Inc, a new non-profit, will have oversight of the 3,000-seat stadium.
