Sneak Peek: Dubuque Fire Department Unveils New Ladder Truck
It's fun to do a little bragging when you get a brand new toy, especially one that makes your job easier AND safer. Well, our local fire department is getting ready to do a little showing off of their own. If you just so happen to be downtown Monday evening, February 2nd, keep your eyes peeled as our Dubuque Fire Department rolls out a brand-new ladder truck, and the public’s invited to get a first look.

Beginning at 5:30 PM, the department will have its newest rig parked in front of the Historic Federal Building at 350 W. 6th Street. Fire department staff will be on hand to answer questions, talk through the truck’s various features, and give folks a closer look before it officially goes into service, keeping them safe. The photos included here offer a sneak peek, but seeing it up close is a whole different deal.
According to the release, the viewing is timed ahead of the Dubuque City Council meeting, which starts with a work session at 6 PM followed by the regular meeting at 6:30. It’s an easy stop if you’re already downtown, and a good excuse to come early.
The truck is a 2025 E-One Cyclone from Banner Fire Equipment. Its ladder can reach 75 feet, and it can pump up to 2,000 gallons of water per minute for fire suppression. It’s also equipped for emergency medical calls, making it a versatile addition to the department’s current fleet of response vehicles.
Compared to older ladder trucks, this one weighs less and handles better, which helps with fuel use, maintenance, and getting through tight spots around town. Once in service in early February, it will be based at Station 4 near Grandview and University, serving central Dubuque and backing up other stations as needed.
Remember, Monday night (2/2/2026) is the community’s first chance to see it, before it gets to work.
