OUCH: Woman Falls Out Bus Door in Jo Daviess County, Illinois

According to a release from the Jo Daviess Country Sherriff's Department,  a woman was airlifted to a hospital after falling out of the doors of a moving bus Saturday night in Jo Daviess County.

39-year-old Amber L. Schaefer, of Morrison, was airlifted to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford for treatment.

A press release states that a bus carrying multiple people was traveling south on Illinois 84 at about 11:05 p.m. Saturday when the driver began to negotiate a slight curve in the roadway approximately a half-mile north of West Whitton Road in rural Hanover.

Schaefer, who was not seated, lost her balance and fell into the side doors of the bus. The doors opened, and Schaefer was thrown from the bus onto the shoulder of the roadway.

The incident remains under investigation.
