Authorities have now identified the man who was hit by a vehicle near Sundown Road on Friday. The man injured is 24 year old Jacob T. Sliwinski of Apple Valley, Minnesota.  Silwinski was transported by ambulance to a local hospital before being airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City where he was listed in critical condition as of this morning (Saturday March 6th)

Earlier today (March 5) just before 11am the Dubuque County Sheriff's Office, Peosta Police, Epworth Police, Cascade Police and Bernard and Cascade Fire and EMS responded to Hwy 151 near Sundown road for a vehicle versus pedestrian accident.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 24 year old male pedestrian had exited a broken down vehicle that was parked on the shoulder of the roadway and entered the traveled portion of the roadway when he was struck by a southbound minivan being driven by 60 year old Kathy Gruwell of Ottumwa, Iowa. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries sustained from the accident. The name of the individual struck will be released tomorrow morning at 9am.

The accident remains under investigation by the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office.est
