Rising Mississippi River Forces City Closures
A flood watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for the Mississippi in Dubuque. The current river stage is 11.8 ft and is expected to rise to 17’ by Tuesday and rise to 17.7 on Thursday.
Flood control operations will start on Friday with the closure of the Bee Branch and 8th street gates. Other action steps will take place as needed. At this time, based on current information the Hawthorne Street gates will be closed on Saturday and the Ice Harbor Gates will be closed on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.
Closing Riverview Park tomorrow (6-22-18)...may be closed for the holiday (AGAIN)...refunds are being offered
The city will take other action steps as needed as the river rises.
