Saints Clinch Play-Offs; Take Steps Toward Home Ice Advantage
A huge win last night (4/11) as your Dubuque Fighting Saints took 2 away from the team directly above them in the Eastern Conference.
The Saints were outshot on the evening 36 to 21, but managed to plug shooting lanes effectively throughout the evening. In addition, they capitalized on 1 of their power play attempts, failing on 3 others, but also shutting out the Gamblers on 5 attempts. Check out the highlights from this must-win match.
This win could be the difference between home ice advantage in our upcoming playoff run. Which brings us to this weekend's match-up with current #1 in the Eastern Conference Chicago Steel. Not only can we grab a possible 4 points off the team in first place, but Green Bay will play Team USA, so there is a chance they could drop more points this weekend.
In addition, UnityPoint Health – Finley Hospital will join forces with the USHL’s Dubuque Fighting Saints to present ‘Healthcare Heroes Night’ at the Fighting Saints’ game against Chicago this Friday night (4/14) at the Dubuque Ice Arena. The contest is the second-to-last home game of the regular season for the Fighting Saints. Many UnityPoint Health – Finley Hospital team members will be in attendance, thanks to free or discounted tickets provided by the Fighting Saints.
All UnityPoint Health – Finley Hospital team members in attendance will have the opportunity to be recognized during the game. In addition, Barb White RN of the Family Birthing Suites will be honored as the Hometown Hero for her recent selection as a Great Iowa Nurse. Members of the UnityPoint Health – Finley Hospital human resources team will also be on hand to speak with game attendees about careers in healthcare.
Exciting community involvement and excitement on the ice as the Saints also added a new Forward, Colin Frank who faced the Green Bay Gamblers last night and looked good doing it.
Frank was originally selected by the Fighting Saints in the 2nd round of the 2022 Phase I USHL Draft with the 27th overall selection. The native of Ladera Ranch, California, has spent the last two seasons playing the AAA circuit for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U program. In 83 games this season, Frank led the entire country in 16U AAA scoring with 124 points coming from 55 goals and 69 assists. His goal and assist totals ranked 4th and 3rd respectively in the nation. He stands at 5'8" and weighs 161 pounds. He shoots right-handed.
