The Dubuque Chorale Celebrates 50 Years with Anniversary Concert
The Dubuque Chorale is officially 50 years old, and you can join them for the celebration at their 50th Anniversary Concert. Enjoy performances from the Chorale, the Dubuque Chorale Children’s Choir, and Cadenza featuring selections from the past as well as contemporary favorites. Artistic Director Dr. Amanda Huntleigh, Associate Director Than Chesher, and Children’s Choir Director Karmella Sellers will be joined by friends at the podium, as former directors Fran Vogt and Dr. Bob Demaree will also guest conduct, along with founding director Dennis Williams who will receive an honorary title during the celebration. They will also be honoring accompanists that have played there over the years.
Since the Dubuque Chorale was founded in 1971, the original plan was to celebrate last year, but it was delayed due to Covid. In addition, one piece that will be performed was co-commissioned to honor 100 years of women's suffrage. This piece was originally slated to be performed a couple years ago but that performance was also cancelled due to COVID.
The 50th Anniversary Concert will be performed on Saturday, May 14th, at 7:30 pm, and again on Sunday, May 15th at 2:00 pm, at the Grand Opera House in Dubuque. For tickets to this event, contact the Grand Opera House Box Office at 563-588-1305 or go to thegrandoperahouse.com. Adult admission $15; students are free of charge.
