Tough-Life Rod is Dubuque Regional Humane Society Pet of the Week
Each week, the Dubuque Regional Humane Society is highlighting a "Pet of the Week." The Pet of the Week is available to be adopted via the Humane Society. This week, the Dubuque Regional Humane Society is highlighting another amazing four-legged friend:

Everyone, say hello to Rod!
Rod is a sweet soul who has been through a lot of hardship in his 8 years of life. He arrived at the DRHS shelter with a very broken leg after being hit by a car. Due to the break, his rear leg ended up having to be amputated. It was also discovered in his X-rays that Rod had remnants of BB pellets throughout his body. Thankfully these have now healed. To top it all off, sweet Rod is FIV-positive (Feline immunodeficiency virus), causing him to have a weaker immune system.
Rod can be shy at first and is slowly learning to trust and come out of his shell. Once he feels like he can trust you, he is a very affectionate boy who wants all the physical touch and snuggles he can get. He has been doing well learning to get around with one less leg. Despite this, Rod has a curious, explorative side. Even though Rod is FIV+, he (like all other FIV+ cats) can still lead a healthy and normal life, if managed appropriately.
Please consider visiting with this guy if you are looking to adopt. He would love a quiet, calm home where he's the only cat to be loved. Take a chance and make Rod your fur-ever pet today and change his life for the better.
