Dubuque Makes Security a Breeze for Local Flyers; What to Know!
Good news for Dubuque-area travelers; getting through airport security is about to get a whole lot easier. The Dubuque Regional Airport is partnering with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to host a special TSA PreCheck® enrollment event from Tuesday, October 14th, through Friday, October 17th, at the Capt. Robert L. Martin Terminal.
What exactly is a TSA PreCheck®?
It’s a trusted traveler program that lets you breeze through airport security with fewer hassles. Members enjoy shorter lines at more than 200 airports nationwide. Even better, you can keep your shoes, belts, and light jackets on, and leave your laptop and small liquids inside your carry-on. If you’ve ever been stuck shuffling through bins and rushing to repack, you know how much time this can save.
For Dubuque travelers, having local access to enrollment is a big win. Normally, applicants need to visit a larger airport or enrollment center. This event brings the service right here, making it much more convenient to sign up.

Here’s how it works: appointments take about ten minutes. You’ll need to bring documents that prove your identity and citizenship or legal residency, then complete fingerprinting and a photo for the background check. The fee is $76.75, which covers a five-year membership, and must be paid onsite.
About a week after your application is processed, you’ll receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN). Use that number when booking flights, and the TSA PreCheck® checkmark will appear on your boarding pass. That’s your ticket to the faster, more relaxed security lane.
Appointments can be scheduled ahead of time online, and walk-ins will be accepted as space allows. Don’t wait too long, though; slots will fill quickly when there's a chance to make travel easier. The Dubuque TSA PreCheck® event could be your shortcut to stress-free flying.
