Update on Shooting in Peosta, Iowa on Tuesday October 12, 2021

On October 12, 2021 at 12am, the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office, Peosta Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, and Centralia/ Peosta Fire Department responded to 110 Peterson Drive #16 in Peosta, IA for a possible burglary in progress with one subject being shot.

Desmond Jimerson (29) of Manchester was involved in an earlier disturbance with Rachel Wright (27) who was living at the residence. Wright returned to the residence and shortly thereafter, Jimerson returned to the residence and was standing outside of the residence talking with the homeowner, Marcus Neal (34). Neal told Jimerson to leave and as Neal attempted to shut the door, Jimerson started to push the door open to force entry into the residence. Neal subsequently pulled a handgun and shot Jimerson multiple times while Jimerson was inside the residence.

Jimerson was transported to Mercy One Hospital in Dubuque for gunshot injuries and is in stable condition.

Charges are pending on Jimerson.
