National Company Makes Big Impact at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Dubuque
The holiday season is feeling a little brighter in Dubuque this year, thanks to a generous boost from UScellular, which is now officially part of T-Mobile (I should probably look into that, since I am a UScellular customer). Anyway, the company donated $1,500 worth of gym supplies and sports equipment to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Dubuque, continuing a multi-year streak of supporting youth organizations across the area.

Maurion Sherrod, the club’s director of sports, fitness and recreation, helped identify much-needed items like volleyballs, dodgeballs, and basketballs. The donated gear will fuel both indoor and outdoor programs, giving kids more chances to stay active, learn new skills, and simply have a safe place to play.
If the name UScellular seems to keeps popping up, there’s a reason. The company has consistently stepped up for Dubuque youth over the past few years. In 2023, UScellular donated more than $529,000 worth of wireless hotspots to the Dubuque Community YMCA/YWCA and the Boys & Girls Club, helping students bridge the “homework gap” and stay connected after school. Then in 2024, the Dubuque Dream Center received $1,500 in sports equipment, arts and crafts materials, and even video gear through the company’s Gift of Connection program.
This year’s contribution to the Boys & Girls Club is part of more than 50 donations UScellular and T-Mobile are making nationwide. And to get the community involved, UScellular retail stores are collecting their own donations for local nonprofits throughout the holiday season.
Dubuque's not alone, UScellular has long been known for being rooted in the communities they serves. T-Mobile has stated that now they’ll be able to create even more opportunities for families across the region. From Wi-Fi hotspots to basketballs and paintbrushes, their support has already touched thousands of Dubuque kids in just the past few years.
