Iowa State Cyclone fans are living in a fun time right now. In fact, the Cyclones have done something never before accomplished in the state of Iowa, and it has many thinking that maybe Iowa is the 'Cyclone State!'

The Iowa State football team is off to a historic start. They stand at 6-0 for the first time since 1938 and find themselves ranked inside the top 10 in college football. They carried away the Cy-Hawk trophy earlier this season and could find themselves in the College Football Playoffs at season's end. But that isn't the only Iowa State sports program ranked this high.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that the Iowa State women's basketball team is ranked #8 in the AP preseason college basketball poll. The Cyclones have a ton of talent returning this season led by super sophomore Audi Crooks. Coach Bill Fennelly is in his 30th year as a college coach and will no doubt have Iowa State ready for another NCAA Tournament run. But wait Cyclone fans...there's more!

To round out the trifecta of top 10 teams, the Iowa State men's basketball team is ranked #5 in the nation in the AP preseason college basketball poll. TJ Otzelberger led the Cyclones to the Big 12 Tournament title last year and a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.

Congrats to Iowa State, the home of three top-10-ranked teams. It hasn't happened in college sports since Baylor did it in 2021. It has NEVER been done in the state of Iowa. The Hawkeyes came close in 1987 when men's basketball finished 6th, women's basketball 8th, and football 16th according to the Gazette.

Being ranked in October is great, but can these Iowa State teams finish their respective seasons ranked this high? A state full of Cyclone fans can't wait to find out!
